I have recently returned to photography after raising a family and retiring from an engineering career of more than 40 years.
As a young man, I focused mainly on macro photography of insects and plants using film. Now, I primarily shoot birds (and the occasional mammal) with digital cameras.
Photographing nature is very rewarding and challenging. Often, the subject will fly away before the shot. Other times, it will pose for a long time, allowing various angles, lighting choices, etc. Occasionally, as this blue jay did, it will tell you when the session has "ended"...
